WIBG seeks to create an Open Access platform that includes:
- Encyclopedia of Feminist Theories for activists
- peer-reviewed journal
- database of scholarly and activist articles
- multi-media archive of materials from women’s organizations and social movements around the world
- distance education program
WIBG uses an Open Access platform to challenge and transform relationships among social movement activists, academics, and information specialists. WIBG envisions feminist activism and movement-building linked to global feminist scholarship, and scholarship linked to global feminist action and movement-building.
The global household, global prison, and global city are regimes of exclusion and enclosure for women. New forms of citizenship that begin with participation of those who have been excluded are linked with the help of librarians and other information specialists to new kinds of activist knowledge production, such as participatory and movement research.
